Reflective Log

Week commencing 07/01/19:

This was our first week back. I feel like we covered a lot of the basics this week but they are vital so we are able to produce something professional by the end of the assignment. We used Dreamweaver, Audition and Premier Pro alongside the website W3 schools. I found Dreamweaver quite difficult and frustrating to use but once you get your head round it, it all starts to fall into place. Audition was my favourite part of the week as you can experiment with different sound samples and fit them together to make a good final product. This week we also researched the audio in food bank ads and analysed the tone of voice and the language used. Etc. As a first week back, I think it was quite productive and a key stage in the process of this assignment.

Week commencing 14/01/19:

This week we made significant progress on Dreamweaver. We learnt how to create a banner. How to centre and align the banner and how to create a container for it. This was really useful as I can use these skills when developing my own website. We also wrote a script for our radio adverts. Additionally, we researched different forms of sound and their uses. Gaining this knowledge is helpful as we can use it towards developing a professional sounding radio advert. Like last week, I think this week was very productive. However, for next week I want to start developing my own website, app and advert instead of practicing on a draft version as I don't want to fall behind and consequently miss the deadline for the assignment.

Week commencing 21/01/19:

This week I feel that we haven't made as much progress as we should have. We created a logo and turned that into a banner for our website. We learnt how to use Adobe Kuler to develop a good understanding of how different colours work with each other and the connotations they have. We also started to plan and produce our radio adverts. i planned what music I am going to use, how I am going to use the one minute ad space wisely and wrote a detailed script. We researched and analysed apps as well to help develop our understanding on how to produce an app. Overall, I feel like this week was the least successful week, that is partly down to me missing lesson but also down to the lessons progressing at a very slow rate. For next week, I want to work at a faster rate to ensure i meet the deadline.

Week commencing 28/01/19:

This week was a very mixed week in terms of how productive we have been. I managed to finish and upload my radio advert. That was one of my goals for this week so now I can focus on completing the other two elements of this assignment. I used Audition and Premier Pro to make the radio advert. In terms of progressing in the other parts of the assignment, I feel like we haven’t done anything. If I am being honest, the lesson are not moving at a very fast pace and like I have said before I don’t think I can meet this deadline with the way the lessons are at the moment. I am going to try and put in more effort outside of class but it’s difficult as all the software is inaccessible at home.

Week commencing 04/02/19:

This week was the most productive week so far. I finished my website and made a lot of progress on my app. In regards to my website, I finished all 4 pages, (home page, about us page, donate page and a contact page). I also created buttons to link to each page. The buttons are located in my header and when you click my logo it takes you back to the home page. I also created links that open up word documents and links that go onto other web pages. In terms of my app, I have created the master page which lays the foundation for the rest of the app. I have also created buttons on the home page that will go to the other pages. I am finding producing the app a lot harder than the website as I found Dreamweaver was easier as we had a template and websites such as w3 schools, whereas, the app is harder as we have to start from scratch and make it interactive. The interactive element of the app is probably what's tripping me up as we did use InDesign for the last assignment but the only interactive element I had was the page turn, not buttons. Overall, I think I am in a good place for the final week of the assignment. By next week Wednesday, I want my app to be completed so then I can spend Thursday and Friday perfecting and finalising everything and writing up my evaluation. At the end of last week I didn't think I was going to meet the deadline but with the way this week has gone I feel a lot more confident in meeting the dead line with three completed things and a good blog.

Week commencing 11/02/19:

This was the final week of the project. I managed to successfully meet the deadline and hand in a finished website, app and radio advert, alongside a finished blog. I tried my best with this assignment to fix any problems flagged up with the last two assignments. I mainly tried to keep up with my reflective log as that was something I previously struggled with, so I made weekly entries to upkeep the log.

Overall, I am really proud of my final products and happy with the content on my blog. I am excited to start the next assignment and hopefully I can use all the skills I learnt in this project, like the skills I learnt on the different software, and use that to my advantage in the Final Major Project (FMP).
